The reason I will never buy an eReader.

I’m so pissed. The Borders by my house is closing. Why the hell would you want to read on a computer/eReader instead of having an actual book in your hand?

Alright I’ve seen this post a billion times now.

I’m probably not getting an E Reader. It isn’t because of it ruining one of the few kinds of stores I actually like going in, but for my own reasons.

I like the feeling of a book, the smell, just sitting there with one, holding one, seeing the progress of my pages.

But, the ereaders do have their plus sides and that’s why I’m not condoning i don’t know definitions thanks aimu. discouraging them in anyway, I just personally don’t want one.

Now, say if I were in college or, possibly even in high school again, these would be useful to me because I really don’t feel like paying 500 for one book that I’m only going to use 10% of. And also feel like lugging that piece of shit around along with my $2000 worth of other books.

In this situation, which does not apply to me, I’d like one. But not for my casual book reading.

We are going into the future, guys. It’s a good idea for readers and college students. And even those authors that really can’t get their book published. Hell, think of it this way.

When J. K. Rowling was writing Harry Potter, the first one, she was barely able to support her baby let alone herself. She’d starve some days just to feed her daughter.

It took forever for her to get the book published, even looked at.

There are books now that are distributed electronically and authors are actually getting out there now. If this existed before, maybe Rowling would have been a little better off when it started? I dunno. I’m just pulling this whole discussion out of my ass with random knowledge. [I did a biography on her for school. ANYWAYS.]

eReaders aren’t the only reason those little book stores shown in this post went out of business, either and you know it. The economy is terrible and I see privately owned stores last less than a year downtown where I live just because of it.

It’s sad, but it’s true.

Bookbs books books. I want them I want to have them in a shelf. I want to hold them. Leaf through the pages. I want to smell them, breathe them.

Books. I love books. I will always love books.

The written word, the handheld word. The ultimate physical vessel of feelings.

Yes, I want my books. I need my books.

They are part of me. They are every little bit of me.

Don’t take them away…
